Online Gambling Bill Delay

Barney Franks bill attempting to overturn the UIGEA has apparently been delayed until September and some say as long as next year. Though no definitive reason has been given, it is assumed that with the health care reform issues and the slow pace of congress, we shouldn't be very excited to see any changes to the online gambling laws anytime soon.

The Department of Justice will certainly be happy with the delay to continue their free reign over prosecuting online gambling operators. Barney Frank has stated the bill would pass through the House Financial Services Committee and be before the full House of Representatives this year, though it is hard to believe with the economic crisis being priority one.

I guess we all have to continue to breath and be patient as it is believed eventually the UIGEA will be overturned and then we will see how the tide of internet gambling shifts.
